Dear Mass NOW Family,
This mother’s day season we’re honoring the mother figures in our lives who have made us the strong feminists we are today. Top of mind is Jahaira DeAlto, a matriarch of the trans activist and ballroom community we tragically lost this past Sunday. We worked alongside Jahaira for the Back to School Ball and as founding organizers of Trans Resistance, photographed above front and center wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt. Jahaira’s murder follows the mysterious circumstances surrounding Mikayla’s death and collectively, it is almost too much to bare.
Ending gender based violence is why Mass NOW was founded over 50 years ago. Join us – in person! – this Thursday at 4:30PM in Hopkinton, MA for a vigil for Mikayla Miller and rally to demand answers from D.A.Ryan. Save the date for the second annual Trans Resistance March & Vigil, June 12th in Dorchester where we will march to honor Jahaira’s legacy.
We hope you are all able to find love and peace this Mother’s Day and join us in community at one of our events this month.

Upcoming Chapter Meeting: Reproductive Justice
Wednesday, May 26, 6:00PM
Mass NOW members: Join our to hear updates on our legislative agenda and participate in consciousness raisings with our diverse, multi-generational feminist community. Over dessert and wine, we strengthen our personal narratives and educate our communities about our priority issue areas. This month we’ll be talking about the movement for reproductive justice.
Reproductive justice is about access, not choice, and yet we know that it is not often seen as a human right for all. We hope you will be able to join us as we unpack the multilayers to reproductive justice and find ways to move towards reproductive liberation.
