Become an Intern
We are looking for interns for summer 2012!
Mass. NOW offers high-level, competitive internship opportunities to graduate and college students in the greater Boston area. Our interns gain experience volunteering in a nonprofit organization and working on a diverse array of tasks involving legislation, grassroots organization, and political and campaign work. Our interns are an essential part of our organization and participate in every aspect of our work, including day-to-day activities, legislative advocacy, community action, and organizational development.
Responsibilities of interns include assistance in planning the Mass. NOW Foundation’s annual fundraiser, in addition to creating and planning other fundraising and member events throughout the year. Interns also have the chance to attend and participate in coalition meetings with other progressive organizations, attend meetings and hearings in the Massachusetts State House, draft newsletters to send to our email list, do research on bills, and more!
During election season, interns have the opportunity to participate in and organize candidate interviews, phone banks, and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) activities. Interns may be asked to produce and distribute press releases, manage candidate questionnaires, and produce candidate bios. Responsibilities may extend to working directly for endorsed candidates and working with other statewide progressive organizations throughout the candidate endorsement process.
Excellent writing and communication skills are necessary, and previous experience in development and/or organizing work is preferred. An active interest in the work of our organization is also key!
