Menstrual Equity Advocacy Day!

After a 3 week delay due to weather, and a complete location change for the speaking program, we were overwhelmed by how many people still showed up to advocate yesterday for menstrual equity! We filled the room with activists and together took to the State House for more than 50 meetings with legislators.

However you took action yesterday, if you just attended the speaking portion, did a lit drop for your legislator, or met with both your State Rep and State Senator, thank you for showing up for menstrual equity ❤️🩸

It was empowering to share space with so many passionate activists, legislators, and students. We had speakers covering what it's like to work with folks experiencing period poverty, how student efforts can lead to real change, and energizing words from our legislative champions. Then, our team leaders helped us prepare for legislator meetings and together we flooded the State House with a crimson wave!

If you met with your legislator, or even just spoke to a receptionist while dropping off a post card, we want to know! Please take a few minutes to fill out our legislator feedback form for BOTH your State Rep and state Senator.

Our advocacy work doesn't end at the end of Menstrual Equity Advocacy Day, now more than ever we need to follow up on this momentum. Here's a few ways you can continue to advocate after Advocacy Day:

  1. Join the MA Menstrual Equity Coalition, if you're not already a member!

  2. Follow up on your meeting with your legislators with an email! You can use our action alerts to automatically send them an email (for Senators, for Representatives) but make sure to mention that you met with them yesterday. You can also find their emails on the MA Legislature website and write them a personalized email.
